Job summary

Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College is seeking a part-time Tutoring Center Assistant for the Science Tutoring Lab. The role involves tutoring chemistry, physics, and some engineering, and supervising lab aides and peer tutors.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
Experience teaching or tutoring in a higher education setting.
Patience and the ability to multi-task.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills and the ability to use a graphing calculator.

Responsibilities

Tutor students in chemistry, physics (various levels), or engineering.
Supervise Aides and Peer Tutors and lab activities.
Communicate effectively with students, instructors, and staff. Provide customer service.
Occasional data entry, record keeping, and general office duties.
Provide a positive environment for student learning.
Implement and enforce TC and A-B Tech regulations.
Other duties as assigned by the TC Coordinator.
