Job summary

Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College is seeking a part-time Education Tutor to manage and operate the tutoring lab, providing tutoring and assistance to students in Education courses. The role includes supervising lab aides and peer tutors, assisting instructors, and enforcing lab policies to maintain a professional learning environment.

The position reports to the TC Coordinator and focuses on delivering quality support to students in a busy tutoring center.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) with significant coursework in Education or Early Childhood.
• Excellent human relations skills.
• Patience and ability to multi-task.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness to stay current with innovations and technologies.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use a graphing calculator.
• Experience working in an educational lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional tutoring services in Education courses.
• Supervise lab aides and peer tutors as needed.
• Supervise tutoring lab activities.
• Assist instructors and department chairs as requested.
• Communicate effectively with students, instructors and staff to troubleshoot lab issues.
• Occasional data entry, record keeping and general office duties.
• Foster a positive environment for student learning.
• Enforce college lab policies and safety rules.
• Handle other duties as assigned by the TC Coordinator.
