Description

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support the building principal to ensure the on-site administration and execution of the district's educational programs, policies, regulations, and quality instruction for all students in a safe and healthy environment.

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's instructional curriculum program, showing written evidence of preparation as required.
  2. Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  5. Implement a system of student evaluation within the guidelines prescribed by law or district policy.
  6. Evaluate and record students’ progress and report to parents as needed and required.
  7. Teach within the prescribed course of study for the subject area and grade level.
  8. Plan lessons leading to subject area objectives and prepare written lesson plans for substitutes.
  9. Use a variety of media and methods to motivate students and optimize instruction time.
  10. Identify student needs and collaborate with professional staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  11. Be available for counseling students and parents before and after school.
  12. Participate in community outreach activities like open house and PTA meetings to interpret educational programs.
  13. Coordinate work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
  14. Collaborate with the principal to develop evaluation and assessment systems in line with district guidelines.
  15. Maintain accurate records of student information and required reports and documents.
  16. Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands:

Regularly sit, handle objects, talk, and hear. Frequently reach with hands and arms. Occasionally stand and walk. Routinely lift/move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision.

Work Environment:

The environment is usually moderate noise. Travel across the district is required. Remote work is not an option for campus-based employees, as attendance at the worksite is essential.

Qualifications

The following are required:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate with endorsements for the assigned subject and level
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to perform routine tasks following instructions
  • Flexibility to adapt to a changing environment
