Job Title

Science Teacher (Grade: 7) - (RTP20250515-050)

Description

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support the building principal to ensure on-site administration, execution of the district's educational programs, policies, regulations, and quality instruction in a safe and healthy environment.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements, with documented evidence of preparation.
  2. Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  5. Establish a system of student evaluation within prescribed guidelines.
  6. Evaluate and record students’ progress, reporting to parents as needed.
  7. Teach within the prescribed course of study for the subject area and grade level.
  8. Plan lessons leading to subject area objectives and prepare written lesson plans for substitutes.
  9. Use a variety of media and methods to motivate students and optimize instruction time.
  10. Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  11. Be available for counseling with students and parents before and after school.
  12. Participate in community engagement activities such as open house and PTA meetings.
  13. Coordinate work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
  14. Contribute to the development of evaluation and assessment systems in collaboration with the principal.
  15. Maintain accurate records of student information and required reports.
  16. Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.
Supervisory Responsibilities

None

Physical Demands

Regularly required to sit, handle objects, talk, hear, reach, stand, walk, and lift/move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision.

Work Environment

The noise level is usually moderate. Travel within the district is required. Remote work is not an option for campus-based employees due to the necessity of on-site presence.

Qualifications

The following are required:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate with endorsements for the assigned subject and level
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to follow instructions with minimal prior experience
