Job Title: Science Teacher (Grades 6-8) - (RTP20250517-023)

Description: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support the building principal to ensure the on-site administration, execution of the district's educational programs, policies, regulations, and the delivery of quality instruction in a safe and healthy environment.

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the district's curriculum requirements, with documented evidence of preparation.
  2. Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  5. Implement a student evaluation system within the guidelines prescribed by law or district policies.
  6. Evaluate and record students’ progress regularly and communicate with parents as needed.
  7. Teach within the prescribed course of study for the subject and grade level.
  8. Plan lessons leading to subject area objectives and prepare written lesson plans for substitutes.
  9. Use a variety of media and methods to motivate students and optimize instructional time.
  10. Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  11. Be available for counseling students and parents outside regular hours.
  12. Participate in community engagement activities such as open houses and PTA meetings.
  13. Coordinate work with aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
  14. Contribute to the development of evaluation and assessment systems in cooperation with the principal.
  15. Maintain accurate records and complete all required reports and documentation.
  16. Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to sit, handle objects, communicate verbally, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally stand and walk. Must be able to lift/move up to 10 pounds. Visual acuity required includes close, distance, and color vision.

Work Environment:

The environment is typically moderate noise level. Travel across the district is expected. Remote work is not an option for campus-based staff due to the necessity of presence at the worksite.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate with appropriate endorsements for the assigned subject and level
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to follow instructions and perform routine tasks
  • Flexibility and willingness to stay current with professional developments
