Job summary

GSL Education Newcastle Branch is seeking a knowledgeable Science Teacher to deliver curriculum-aligned lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics in Hartlepool. Immediate start with flexible day-to-day and long-term placements.

You will foster inquiry, practical investigation, and safe laboratory practice while building confidence in students. QTS or equivalent required; enhanced DBS update service preferred.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification.
• Strong knowledge of the Science curriculum.
• Experience teaching Science across relevant key stages is desirable.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
• Safeguarding and child protection checks required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver curriculum-aligned lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
• Demonstrate scientific concepts through experiments and practical activities.
• Encourage learners to question evidence, interpret results and develop conclusions.
• Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different abilities and levels.
• Assess academic progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Prepare examination groups through targeted revision and assessment practice.

Job Title: Science Teacher
Location: Hartlepool
Pay Rate: £150 - £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate

We welcome qualified educators who can make scientific concepts accessible, connect theory with practical investigation, and inspire learners to develop curiosity across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

As a Science Teacher, you will have the opportunity to deliver engaging lessons that strengthen scientific knowledge, investigative skills, analytical thinking, and confidence in both theoretical and practical work.

Science Teacher Responsibilities:

• Deliver curriculum-aligned lessons across relevant areas of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
• Demonstrate scientific concepts through experiments, investigations, and practical activities
• Encourage learners to question evidence, interpret results, and develop reasoned conclusions
• Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different abilities and levels of understanding
• Assess academic progress and provide constructive feedback for improvement
• Prepare examination groups through structured revision and targeted assessment practice

Science Teacher Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification
• Strong knowledge of the Science curriculum
• Experience teaching Science across relevant key stages is desirable
• Confidence managing practical activities and maintaining appropriate laboratory safety
• Effective planning, assessment, communication, and classroom management skills
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
