Job summary

GSL Education Newcastle Branch is currently seeking a dependable Cover Supervisor to work with a school in Hartlepool. You will provide effective classroom supervision when the regular teacher is unavailable and help students stay focused on learning.

You will follow lesson plans, support students, and maintain positive routines while communicating progress to teaching staff. DBS checks and safeguarding knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people is desirable.
• Experience in education or youth work is beneficial.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and DBS compliance are required.

GSL Education Newcastle Branch are currently looking for a dependable Cover Supervisor to work with a school in Hartlepool. This is an opportunity to provide effective classroom supervision, maintain positive behaviour and ensure students continue with their learning when their regular teacher is unavailable.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

• Follow lesson plans and instructions provided by teaching staff.
• Help students understand the work and complete assigned activities.
• Maintain positive classroom routines and expectations.
• Manage behaviour calmly and consistently.
• Encourage students to remain engaged with their learning.
• Communicate relevant classroom information to teaching staff.

Requirements for the Cover Supervisor role:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people as a Cover Supervisor (CS) is desirable.
• Experience in education, tutoring, youth work or a similar setting would be beneficial.
• Confident group and behaviour management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in different classroom situations.
• You need to be Reliable, organised and punctual for the Cover Supervisor role.
• Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
