Position Type: High School Teaching/ Science - General

SUMMARY

The Teacher supports and coordinates with other faculty members and administrators to ensure a cohesive educational experience. This job description outlines the general responsibilities and functions of the Teacher, emphasizing the importance of common sense, good judgment, and alignment with the educational philosophy of St. Rose High School. Teachers must maintain a professional demeanor and conduct themselves in a manner that upholds the school's values and Catholic mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning.

  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans in accordance with curriculum objectives.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on work.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings.
  • Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations.
  • Keep updated with developments in the subject area, teaching resources, and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
  • And other duties/activities assigned by the principal
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in the relevant field required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Valid teaching certification.
  • Proven experience as a teacher at the high school level preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with technology, including educational software and social media.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.

  • Compliance with diocesan requirements, including VIRTUS training and background check clearance.
WORKING CONDITIONS
