Description
The short‑term Spanish teaching position will involve creating a supportive learning environment, planning instructional activities, and fostering students’ academic and personal growth during the 2025-2026 school year.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning.
- Develop schemes of work and lesson plans in accordance with curriculum objectives.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
- Provide appropriate feedback on work.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
- Prepare required reports on students and activities.
- Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings.
- Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress.
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations.
- Keep updated with developments in the subject area, teaching resources, and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
- Perform other duties or activities assigned by the principal.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field required; advanced degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification.
- Proven experience as a teacher at the high school level preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with technology, including educational software and social media.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom culture.
- Compliance with diocesan requirements, including VIRTUS training and background check clearance.
Working Conditions
The job requires a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, with occasional lifting and carrying of materials, and participation in various school activities.
