Job summary

Tennessee Board of Regents is seeking a Lab Assistant for the Southeast Campus to provide broad laboratory support for biology and chemistry courses. The role supports faculty and adjuncts, sets up labs, prepares specimens, and helps with equipment and inventory management.

Required is a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least three years of professional lab experience; prior higher ed experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum of three years of professional lab experience required.
• Knowledge of biology or related scientific areas is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sets up supplies, materials and equipment for biology and chemistry laboratories for stations and demonstrations.
• Prepares specimens, cultures and slides for biology, anatomy and physiology and microbiology labs.
• Operates the autoclave and other lab equipment.
• Maintains and inventories science area at the Southeast campus and assists other campuses as needed.
• Prepares purchase orders and receives shipments for the sciences.
• Assists instructors during laboratory sessions and with minor equipment repairs.
• Occasional travel to other campuses in Davidson County may be required.
