Job summary

Central State University’s Department of Engineering and Technology seeks an Engineering Lab Technician to support instruction and research laboratory operations. The role maintains lab facilities, analytical instruments, and equipment, ensuring safety and efficient operations for ABET and ATMAE activities.

The incumbent will train students and faculty in equipment use, assist with equipment setup, and coordinate with staff to ensure accurate lab practices and compliance.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate degree in engineering technology or related field (preferred).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
• Ability to work in the United States and lift up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ABET‑EAC and ATMAE self-studies and related materials.
• Support faculty and students with laboratory equipment and procedures.
• Assist with acquisition, setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Maintain inventory and organize lab spaces; assist with budget planning and supply projections.
• Promote safety compliance and proper handling of materials used in instruction and research.
• Provide lab housekeeping, maintenance and security support.
• Oversee lab safety certification processes.
