Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science, or 5 years of equivalent experience.
• Experience applying complex scientific and engineering principles to provide technical services.
• Experience with data analysis and development of prototypes/equipment.
• Ability to write clear documentation and maintain research protocols.
• Experience supervising a laboratory space and staff.
• Strong communication with staff, students, faculty and external vendors.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate efforts among researchers, technical staff, vendors and other university staff.
• Support science programs; analyze requirements, monitor experiments and design prototypes.
• Develop and deploy instrument-specific systems and upgrades.
• Maintain, repair and troubleshoot complex equipment and experimental systems.
• Prepare and review drawings, material lists and engineering documentation.
• Coordinate installations and oversee equipment operation schedules and maintenance.
• Acquire tools, equipment and chemicals; manage project documentation.
• Oversee technicians and guide staff within the group.
