Job summary

Discovery Cube in Santa Ana, CA is seeking a part-time Science Education Instructor (12-15 hours per week) to inspire youth through hands-on STEM learning. The role supports teachers, delivers programs at schools and on-site, and engages families with exciting science activities.

You’ll teach K-8 concepts, assist with demonstrations, prepare materials, and join weekly trainings. Availability Monday–Friday, 1pm–5pm is required; a valid driver's license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience working with children.
• Experience in an educational setting.
• Experience working with science concepts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct educational programs at schools and onsite at Discovery Cube with students and families
• Conduct virtual educational programs as needed
• Teach science enrichment activities to students in grades K-8
• Assist children with hands-on projects and activities
• Attend weekly staff meetings and trainings
• Prepare for lessons and master content knowledge-hands-on training and professional development provided
• Collect, store and maintain materials
• Drive to and arrive promptly at schools throughout Southern California
• Perform other duties as needed

Discover Cube is looking for a part-time (12-15 hours per week) informal Science Education Instructor who is personable, energetic and professional, to join our team. Science Education Instructors fulfill our mission by educating young minds, assisting teachers, and increasing public understanding and appreciation for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

• Experience working with science concepts
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Knowledge of a second language preferable, but not required
• Possess vehicle driver’s license and insurance
• Must be able to lift 50lbs
• Comfortable learning and teaching basic science concepts
• Quick learner
• Flexible- this position requires the ability to maintain a flexible schedule and work in a variety of locations
• Exceptional planning and organizational skills
• Ability to perform and teach to school groups, educators, community-based organizations and families
• Self-motivated
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Availability: Monday - Friday, 1pm-5pm

Compensation
