Job summary

The University of Maryland Baltimore - School of Medicine - Department of Pharmacology and Physiology seeks an Administrator to provide leadership in strategic financial management, operations, and compliance for the department.

The role leads grants and contracts, pre- and post-award activity, manages a multi‑funder budget, directs a business office team, and partners with chairs and faculty to support research excellence and institutional priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
• Nine (9) years of administrative/financial operations experience.
• At least three (3) years in basic science or clinical research environment.
• Demonstrated experience in accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis in a university setting.
• Certified Research Administrator preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee strategic financial management for the department.
• Lead pre- and post-award activities for grants and contracts.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and sponsor requirements.
• Manage departmental budgets, including space and equipment.
• Prepare financial plans and reports for external agencies.
• Supervise business office staff and coordinate recruitment and development.
