Overview
Locations: California, New Mexico, Florida, Massachusetts. This is a remote position; work must be performed while residing in one of the approved states. CIAT location: San Diego, CA and Albuquerque, NM. Reports to: Associate Dean of Education, General Education. Status: Non-Exempt. Employment Type: Variable-Hour (Part-Time). Schedule: Class schedule supports applicants who may have daytime commitments. Remote work policy requires residency in CA, FL, MA, or NM.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaching: Available to teach synchronous online courses via Microsoft Teams; plan and organize instruction to maximize online student learning and engagement; modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs; employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to convey subject matter.
- Mastery of Subject Matter: Demonstrate thorough and accurate knowledge of the field; connect subject matter with related disciplines; stay current through professional development and involvement in professional organizations, meetings, conferences, or workshops.
- Adhering to College Policies and Procedures: Ensure student data and grade records are accurate and up-to-date; maintain compliance with accreditation, class hours, CIAT policies; promote collaboration with staff and participate in new projects and ideas; adhere to CIAT attire and professional standards; maintain FERPA compliance and secure handling of student data.
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Appropriate credential, license, or certification (for IT instructors: official transcripts of bachelor’s degree and active certification in the subject; for General Education instructors: official transcripts showing bachelor’s and master’s degrees with at least 18 units in the subject).
- At least three years’ experience in the field or two years of teaching experience; synchronous online teaching preferred; advanced subject matter expertise preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and learning technologies such as Canvas.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, multitask, problem-solve rapidly, and work with a sense of urgency while collaborating with colleagues and administration to support student success.

- Position Type and Hours: Variable-hour position; typical days are Monday–Friday with weekend/evening hours as needed. Live classes scheduled twice a week (Monday and Tuesday), 6:00pm–9:30pm PT.
