Remote opportunities available in California, Florida, Massachusetts, and New Mexico. California Institute of Applied Technology (CIAT) is growing and seeking educators and professionals with a passion for mentoring others to support student success through practical training in technology fields.
Position Type: Variable-Hour (Part-Time). Schedule supports flexible participation, including evenings. Reports to: Dean of Education (DOE). Status: Non-Exempt. Employment Type: Part-Time, Variable-Hour. Work from home; remote work must be performed while residing in California, New Mexico, Florida or Massachusetts. CIAT located in San Diego, CA and Albuquerque, NM for administrative reference.
Responsibilities
- Teach synchronous online courses via Microsoft Teams on Monday and Tuesday every week.
- Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning and engagement.
- Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.
- Utilize appropriate teaching and learning strategies to convey subject matter in a synchronous online format (Microsoft Teams).
- Maintain current certifications in subjects taught.
Mastery of Subject Matter
- Demonstrate thorough and accurate knowledge of the field or discipline.
- Connect subject matter to related fields.
- Stay current through professional development, professional organizations, and attendance at relevant meetings or workshops.
Adhering to College Policies and Procedures
- Maintain Student Database with up-to-date attendance and grade records.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, instructional quality, class hours, and CIAT policies.
- Promote collaboration with staff and participate in new projects and ideas.
- Adhere to CIAT business casual attire; refer to the Employee Handbook for policy details (neat, clean, no rips/holes; polo shirts acceptable).
Requirements
- Information Technology Instructors must provide official transcripts of a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution and subject-matter certification.
- Certification sought: CompTIA Network+.
- At least three years’ experience in the field OR two years of teaching experience.
- Synchronous online teaching experience preferred.
- Advanced subject matter expertise with commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Effective presentation, communication, and technology skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and learning technologies (Canvas).
- Ability to work independently with dependable time management and multitasking capabilities.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and collaborative work with colleagues, departments, and administration to support student success and institutional goals.
- Commitment to an inclusive and supportive learning environment that respects diversity.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in higher education; ability to deliver engaging lesson plans for diverse students.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional and ethical conduct; adherence to college policies and regulations, including academic integrity and student conduct.

Additional Details
- Position may require evening classes (6:00 pm – 9:30 pm Pacific Time) twice per week.
- No supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

Pay Range
$38 - $42 USD per hour
