Job summary

The VA North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS) Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Center seeks an internal medicine physician to deliver consultative and primary care services to Veterans with SCI/D, across inpatient and outpatient settings. The role supports the SCI Service with complex medical management and education for patients and families.

Eligible for Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP); Monday–Friday schedule; opportunities to contribute to education and research within the SCI Service.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Preferred Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.

Responsibilities

• Provides consultative and direct patient care (inpatient and outpatient).
• Provides outpatient primary care services to SCI/D population.
• Completes initial internal medicine consults on new admissions and provides internal medicine consultation to SCI Interdisciplinary Team.
• Supports SCI team with managing complex medical issues and provides medical clearance for surgery.
• Admits, evaluates, diagnoses and treats Veterans and ensures documentation per policy.
• Engages in education for patients, families and caregivers and participates in academic activities within VANTHCS.
