Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools is seeking a School-Based Mental Health Specialist to lead efforts that increase promotion rates and graduation, while reducing absences and suspensions. The role focuses on identifying students at risk and coordinating targeted interventions in collaboration with school leaders.

The MHSC will develop and sustain MTSS frameworks, provide direct services, and foster partnerships with families and community programs to support student success across grades 3, 6, and 9.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid degree, license and/or certificate in the chosen professional field.
• Within one year, earn a school-based mental health certificate by completing the ADMH program.

Responsibilities

• Increase promotion rate in Grades 3, 6, and 9; reduce absences and suspensions; reduce dropout rate and raise graduation rate.
• Identify at-risk students using profiling tools and prescribed assessments.
• Develop or sustain schoolwide interventions and MTSS to match student needs.
• Provide direct services through individual, small-group, and whole-school strategies.
• Collaborate with feeder schools to support transitions and improve student success.
• Engage families and community partners to support student outcomes.
• Track progress and report outcomes to school leadership and ALSDE.
