Job summary

Attain ABA | Kadiant is seeking a School Transportation Driver to safely transport students with autism and developmental disabilities to and from school. You will follow IEPs, BIPs, and transportation plans while maintaining a calm, structured environment that supports dignity and independence.

The role involves early morning and afternoon routes, pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and collaboration with the Transportation Attendant to ensure on‑time arrivals.

Qualifications

School Transportation DriverPosition SummaryThe Driver is responsible for safely transporting students with autism and other developmental disabilities to and from school while maintaining a calm, structured, positive, and supportive transportation environment. As an extension of the educational team, the Driver helps ensure students arrive safely, on time, and prepare for learning while promoting dignity, respect, and increasing independence whenever appropriate. Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, or designee, the Driver operates school vehicles in accordance with all applicable laws, organizational policies, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and student transportation plans. The Driver is expected to demonstrate professionalism, exceptional customer service, sound judgment, effective communication, and a steadfast commitment to maintaining the highest standards of student safety, vehicle cleanliness/readiness, and operational excellence.Work Schedule- Follow school calendar year which consists of:180 regular school days and 20 Extended School Year (ESY) days, plus required training, meetings, and other assigned workdays.Transportation Drivers work a split-shift schedule with morning and afternoon routes. Morning routes may begin as early as 5:30AM, while afternoon routes generally begin around 2:00PM and conclude after all assigned students have been safely transported.Regular school-year student hours are generally 8:30AM to 2:35PM, with approximately one minimum day each month. During ESY, student hours are generally 8:30AM to 12:30PM (morning route starts 5:30am and second route will start 12pm).Work hours may vary based on assigned routes, student needs, traffic, and operational requirements. Drivers are expected to complete all required pre-trip and post-trip inspections, documentation, and other assigned duties each workday. Overtime must be approved in advance unless required to address an emergency involving student or employee safety.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Safely transport students according to assigned routes and schedules.Ensure students arrive at school and home safely and on time.Maintain student safety as the highest priority in every transportation decision.Support student dignity, respect, and increasing independence during transportation.Follow all student transportation plans, Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and organizational procedures.Maintain a calm, structured, predictable, and positive transportation environment.Utilize approved behavior support and de-escalation strategies while transporting students.Never leave a student unattended.Ensure students are released only to authorized adults or designated school personnel.Work collaboratively with the Transportation Attendant to provide a safe, supportive, and successful transportation experience for every student.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:High school diploma or equivalent required.Valid California Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record that meets organizational insurance requirements.Experience transporting students or individuals with disabilities preferred.Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities preferred.Minimum of one (1) year of experience in transportation, education, healthcare, human services, or a related field preferred.Knowledge of safe driving practices, vehicle inspections, and transportation safety procedures.Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.Ability to remain calm in emergencies, exercise sound judgment, and work independently as well as part of a team.Proficiency with GPS navigation, mobile technology, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.Physical RequirementsAbility to perform physical requirements of the position, including lifting students up to 35 lbs.Ability to frequently sit, stand, kneel, bend, walk, and run as needed to support students.Ability to maintain alertness and stamina throughout the school day.Ability to meet visual and auditory requirements necessary to supervise and support students safely.Salary and benefitsGenerous compensation401KPaid time off & holidaysSick Time: Sick pay will be paid in accordance with state/local sick pay requirements.Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Health benefits including medical, dental, and visionStrong and ethical corporate team and supportsCareer advancement and growth opportunitiesOngoing mentoringHealthy work-life balanceWhy Join Attain ABA | Kadiant?Attain ABA | Kadiant is a rapidly growing nationwide ABA organization dedicated to helping individuals reach their highest potential through high-quality services.
