Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Crossing Guard in Tucson to support safe school crossings. Under general supervision, you will stop traffic at crosswalks and escort students safely across streets to the school entrance. The role also involves clerical support, supervising students and assisting teachers and staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience with general clerical tasks (filing, copying, data entry).
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to interact positively with students, parents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepares worksheets, tests, quizzes, report cards and correspondence.
• Grades papers and tests; files records and makes copies as required.
• Assists students in the Library, checks books in/out and provides resource materials.
• Monitors supervision of students in classroom, library, cafeteria or playground.
• Provides information to teachers, parents and staff and offers limited instruction or tutoring.
• Operates office and AV equipment; performs clerical duties as assigned.
• Uses STOP sign to halt traffic and assists students crossing streets.
• Ensures curbside waiting and safety when crossing streets.
• Communicates with law enforcement regarding violations as needed.
• Assists children who are lost, injured or in need of assistance.
