Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a dedicated crosswalk safety monitor for a high school in Snyder, Texas. Shifts run from 6:45am to 8:15am and 12:00pm to 1:30pm, ensuring safe student and pedestrian crossing during busy start and dismissal times.

The role requires strong communication, the ability to stay calm under pressure, and collaboration with school staff and local authorities to promote traffic safety. Experience in safety or traffic control is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in safety or traffic control is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
• Knowledge of local traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred but not required.
• Must pass a background check and training programs.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control pedestrian traffic at designated crosswalks during school arrival and dismissal times.
• Ensure safe crossing of students, parents, and other pedestrians.
• Communicate effectively with students and drivers to promote safety and compliance with traffic laws.
• Use hand signals and crossing signs to direct traffic and maintain order.
• Report unsafe conditions or incidents to school authorities or local law enforcement.
• Attend training sessions to stay updated on safety protocols and traffic regulations.
• Collaborate with school staff, parents, and local authorities to promote safety awareness.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance while on duty.
• Assist in emergency situations by following safety procedures.
