Qualifications

• Master’s degree and full approval from the Michigan Department of Education as a School Social Worker.
• Section 504 experience preferred.
• Experience with a variety of disabilities including EI, LD, CI, OHI and ASD with knowledge in evaluating emotional impairment and ASD.
• Certification in or willingness to be trained in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques.
• Alternative qualifications may be considered by the Board of Education.
• Applicants must pass a criminal background check as defined by the State of Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Participates in professional development and maintains qualifications.
• Conducts Functional Assessments using multiple data sources and behavior observations.
• Develops Behavior Support Plans based on positive behavioral supports and person-centered approaches.
• Tracks effectiveness of plans through data analysis and adjusts as needed.
• Provides training and modeling to staff to implement behavior plans and instructional strategies.
• Promotes student self-advocacy and independence.
• Documents promptly and accurately per policies and regulations.
• Engages with students, families, and administration to support student growth.
• Adheres to district/school rules and participates in district initiatives.
