Job summary

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling is required.
• Massachusetts initial license as School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Knowledge of developmental theories in intellectual, social, and emotional growth.
• Familiarity with social work, counseling philosophies and practices.
• Knowledge of mental health and emotional impairments including learning disorders.
• Experience with crisis management and intervention.

Responsibilities

• Work with Principal and Director of Student Support Services.
• Implement student development curriculum for all levels.
• Guide students through transitions between grades and levels.
• Counsel individuals and small groups on academic, social, and emotional growth.
• Consult with teachers, parents and staff about student needs.
• Refer students to programs and outside agencies as needed.
• Participate in problem solving processes and plan evaluation of counseling program.
• Commit to ongoing professional growth and professional development.
