Job summary

Springfield Public Schools in Springfield, MA seeks a School Counselor to support students across elementary to high school with academic, social, and emotional growth. The counselor collaborates with the Principal and District staff to implement a comprehensive student development program.

You will provide individual and group counseling, refer students to services, and help families navigate supports while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to district policies.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work or counseling is required.
• Certification (Initial License) as a School Social Worker or School Adjustment Counselor per MA DOE at the appropriate grade level.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of developmental frameworks for intellectual, social, and emotional growth.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Principal and Director of Student Support Services.
• Implement the student development curriculum across grade levels.
• Counsel individuals and groups toward academic, social, and emotional growth.
• Consult with teachers, parents, and staff regarding student needs.
• Refer students to programs and outside agencies as needed.
• Participate in planning and evaluation of the counseling program.
• Maintain confidentiality and records per ethics and law.
• Pursue continuous professional growth.
