Job summary

Sumter School District is seeking a School Social Worker Student Support Services to deliver comprehensive social work services within the school setting. The role addresses barriers to learning, provides individual and group counseling, and leads prevention efforts with families and staff.

The position supports students across MTSS and special education processes to promote positive academic and social outcomes.

Qualifications

• Education: MSW from a CSWE-accredited program with minimum 60 graduate hours.
• Experience: Minimum of two years as a school social worker or in a similar role with at least 400 clock hours practicum/field.
• Licensure: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in SC required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct social work services including individual, group, and family counseling.
• Respond to referrals from school administration, teachers, and committees.
• Assess needs using psychosocial assessments and screeners; coordinate with families and partners.
• Develop interventions to remove barriers to learning and participate in MTSS/safety initiatives.
• Maintain confidential records in compliance with regulations.
• Document all services in the designated electronic record system.
