Position Requirements:

The School Social Worker promotes and enhances the overall academic mission by providing services that strengthen home/school/community partnerships and alleviate barriers to learning. The School Social Worker significantly contributes to the development of a healthy, safe, and caring environment by advancing the understanding of the emotional and social development of children and the influences of family, community, and cultural differences on student success and by implementing effective intervention strategies. The School Social Worker will be a part of each school’s student support team.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and a valid MN licensure as a School Social Worker.

Experience and training in group and individual counseling with school-age population.

Working knowledge in areas of child abuse and neglect.

Sensitivity to students in need and the ability to communicate effectively with students, adults, and community agencies.

Preferred county-wide knowledge of community resources.

Other Skills & Abilities:

Thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, methods and techniques used for assessing sociological needs of individual students; thorough knowledge of federal and state mandates and local procedures and regulations relating to social and community support programs; thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of providing effective therapy for students; thorough knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in the special education process for diagnostic and evaluative procedures; thorough knowledge of federal and state mandate and local procedures and regulations relating to special education program; thorough skill in the use of personal computers and related software packages, hardware and peripheral equipment; ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to use data to make decisions; ability to work with and through other school personnel, parents and community agencies; ability to communicate and establish effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers and administrators. Consistent and reliable attendance.

7:30 AM - 2:55 PM // 1.0FTE

Salary:Based on candidate's education and experience per the OEA Master Agreement.

Eligible for Health and Dental Insurance (single or family) after 12 weeks of uninterrupted service as a long-term substitute for the same teacher or for any other professional covered by the OEA Master Agreement.
