Position Purpose

This position’s purpose is to provide support for our students and families in various ways. You will provide information on services available to eligible students and families, convey information regarding school and district activities/procedures, refer families to other agencies when needed, and facilitate administrative processes to ensure operations are compliant with count, state, and federal requirements.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assess student and family needs (e.g., financial, medical, parenting skills) to develop and implement individualized support plans.
  • Coordinate with outside service agencies, school sites (e.g., mental health, probation, medical) to provide referrals.
  • Review and monitor student attendance, following policies that may include referrals, pre-court conferences, and court referrals.
  • Support homeless youth and foster care students, ensuring compliance with McKinney Vento Act and foster care guidelines.
  • Provide behavioral counseling to students individually and in groups, maintaining documentation.
  • Manage guardianship information, complete custodial agreements, and collaborate with the Department of Child Services.
  • Participate as part of the Behavioral Intervention Team, implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, and assist with assessments and crisis interventions.
  • Identify community resources and connect families to meet their needs.
  • Report child neglect and abuse, completing all necessary protocols.
  • Conduct home visits for residency verification, homelessness, or other family needs.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars.
  • Respond to inquiries about district services and educational programs.
  • Intervene in situations that could negatively impact a student's education plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Equipment

Use standard office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and telephones.

Travel Requirements

Travel to district buildings and meetings as required.

Pay Rates

This is a PEA certified position.

Work Schedule

Standard schedule as set forth in the contract.

  • Valid Indiana State Social Worker License.
  • Valid Indiana State School Social Worker License.
Education
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work.
Experience
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience.
