The Southern Maine Administrative Collaborative (SMAC) hires SLPs to serve children in Maine's preschool, daycare, school, and clinic settings. Our mission is to provide speech and language services for children in Southern Maine who need support to be ready for Kindergarten and beyond. Qualifications:

  • Certified by Maine Department of Education OR Licensed by State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
  • Master's Degree in Psychology.
  • Valid DOE fingerprinting certification.

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Administer and interpret tests of mental abilities, learning disabilities, aptitudes, psychological interests, and personality characteristics for educational, vocational, guidance, or placement purposes.
  2. Interview and examine student developmental histories to help determine causes of behaviors, problems, or delays.
  3. Communicate findings and recommendations to parents during IEP meetings.
  4. Suggest behavioral interventions and changes for students, teachers, and parents.
  5. Provide consultation to staff for program development.
  6. Collaborate with School Social Workers and Psychological Service Providers for professional development and supervision.
  7. Complete risk assessments and provide recommendations through the Risk Assessment process.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Year-round position. Salary and work days are established by the School Committee and Executive Director.
