Position Purpose

This position’s purpose is to provide support for our students and families in various ways. You will provide information on services available to eligible students and families, convey information regarding school and district activities/procedures, refer families to other agencies when needed, and facilitate administrative processes to ensure compliance with count, state, and federal requirements.

Essential Job Functions

1. Assess student and family needs (e.g., financial, medical, parenting skills) to develop and implement individualized support plans.
2. Coordinate activities with outside service agencies, school sites, etc., to provide referrals.
3. Review and monitor student attendance, following policies that may include referrals, pre-court conferences, and court referrals.
4. Identify and support homeless youth and foster care students, ensuring compliance with the McKinney Vento Act and foster care guidelines.
5. Provide ongoing behavioral counseling and maintain documentation.
6. Work with guardianship issues, custodial agreements, and the Department of Child Services.
7. Participate in behavioral intervention teams, implementing PBIS, conducting functional behavioral assessments, and crisis intervention.
8. Identify community resources and connect families accordingly.
9. Report child neglect and abuse, completing all protocol requirements.
10. Conduct home visits for residency proof, homelessness, and other needs.
11. Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars.
12. Respond to inquiries about district support services and educational programs.
13. Intervene in situations impacting the student’s education plan and address student needs.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Valid Indiana State Social Worker License and School Social Worker License.
• Master’s Degree in Social Work.
• Minimum of two years of experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to interpret laws and regulations.
• Research skills for social agencies and data analysis skills.
• Physical ability to perform job duties, such as standing, lifting, and operating equipment.
• Travel to district buildings and meetings as required.
