Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a qualified Security Assistant to help protect students, staff and property. You will patrol buildings and grounds, greet visitors, screen entry, and respond to emergencies under the guidance of school leadership.

Responsibilities include supervising security staff at locations, coordinating with nurses during medical incidents, and maintaining security devices such as CCTV and alarm systems.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience with children and prior security work are preferred.
• Ability to operate CCTV and security software; respond to incidents calmly.

Responsibilities

• Monitor buildings, grounds, and activities to deter threats.
• Patrol hallways, entrances, and parking areas during the school day.
• Screen visitors and maintain entry controls; sign-in when required.
• Report suspicious conditions to administration and lead security staff.
• Provide security for after-hours and events as assigned.
• Escort disruptive students and assist with incident response.
• Maintain CCTV, access control, and emergency communications systems.
