Job summary

Fredericksburg City Public Schools is seeking a School Security Officer for James Monroe High School. This 7.5-hour/day position ensures safety of students, staff, and visitors and enforces school policies on property, buses, and events.

Responsibilities

• Operates patrol to assigned school/areas to detect and deter risks to students, staff, and property.
• Performs security inspections of school facilities and entrances.
• Assists with developing and applying the school security plan.
• Reports suspicious activities to appropriate officials and law enforcement when needed.
• Monitors social media, online programs, and camera systems.
• Ensures only authorized persons are on FCPS property after hours.
• Coordinates fire, tornado, and active shooter drills.
• Completes required reports and forms in a timely manner.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by the principal and central office.
