Job summary

The City of Apache Junction is seeking a full-time School Resource Officer (SRO) in the Public Safety department, Division Investigations. The role focuses on patrols, crime prevention, and school safety within Apache Junction, AZ.

Responsibilities include responding to calls, executing investigations, engaging with students and staff, teaching safety programs, and coordinating with detectives and supervisors. AZPOST-certified candidates and those nearing certification are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Must possess AZPOST certification or have completed AZPOST within 3 months of appointment.
• High school diploma or GED required; AZPOST certification preferred or obtained soon after appointment.
• Experience as police officer or recruit with agency probation completion is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Patrol designated area by vehicle or on foot and deter crime; enforce traffic laws and city codes.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls; provide first aid/CPR as needed and assist other agencies.
• Prepare detailed incident reports, forms, summonses, and diagrams; preserve evidence.
