The Hampton Police Department is hiring a School Resource Officer (SRO) to serve in Hampton City Schools. You will patrol districts, enforce laws, mentor students, and act as a liaison between the Police Division and school community.

We require Virginia-certified officers with strong judgment under stress, capaz of effective communication, and a commitment to safety in a dynamic school environment. Evening/weekend hours and city-wide travel may be needed.

Qualifikationen

• Must be certified as a Police Officer per Virginia Code: 9.1-101 for at least two years.
• Background check required prior to offer or promotion.
• Position is safety sensitive and may involve alcohol and controlled substances testing.

Aufgaben

• Perform general duties of Police/Patrol Officer as required.
• Enforce laws and ordinances relating to schools and juveniles.
• Establish partnerships with school administrators; provide information to staff and officers.
• Provide guidance to students and parents; refer to Social Services or other agencies as appropriate.
• Coordinate with Hampton City Schools to identify priorities.
• Attend school events and meetings; deliver classroom instruction on law enforcement topics.
• Assist with student safety patrol programs in schools.
• Patrol Hampton City Schools and events to prevent crime and maintain public order.
• Prepare reports and coordinate courtroom testimony with Commonwealth's Attorney.
