Job summary

Heartland AEA in Des Moines, IA seeks School Psychologists for the 2027–28 school year under a 192-day contract. Office location and district assignments to be determined. We also hire School Psychology interns and provide benefits.

Responsibilities include promoting academic achievement and mental health, collaborating with educators and families, and contributing to RtI/MTSS decisions across multiple districts in central Iowa.

Qualifications

• Post-master’s level training in an approved School Psychology program (specialist degree or master’s + 30 preferred).
• Licensure: Professional Service License (or eligibility) through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners.
• School Psychology Interns are welcome to apply.

Heartland AEA supports 58 public school districts, 58 accredited nonpublic schools, and 3 charter schools. Our service area includes the Des Moines metro area and other communities in central Iowa serving more than 150,000 students.

What You’ll Do

• Provide psychological services that promote students’ academic achievement, behavioral health, and mental healthCollaborate with educators, families, and community partners to support individualized learning and behavioral plans
• Contribute to the RtI/MTSS model through assessments, interventions, and data-informed decision-making
• Participate in Child Find activities to identify and support students with special needs
