Job summary

The Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School in Worcester, MA is hiring an Assistant Director of Nutritional Services to support the Director in running the school’s food service program. You will oversee meal preparation, inventory management, NSLP compliance, and safety standards while guiding staff for efficient service.

This 40-hour per week, 10-month, non-exempt role requires strong planning, organization, and collaboration with staff, parents, and the community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
• Minimum of three years of experience in quantity food service production.
• At least one year of supervisory experience is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive/Google Suite.
• Experience in school nutrition, food service, or a related field is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of current food preparation methods, practices, and waivers due to COVID-19 regulations.
• Must be ServSafe certified within 6 months of the hire date if not already certified.
• Strong planning and project management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nutritional Services in ensuring NSLP requirements and safety standards are met.
• Prepare and cook in large quantities, ensuring meals meet quality standards and are served on time.
• Maintain inventory records and assist with staff coverage.
• Attend meetings and collaborate with staff, parents, and community.
• Provide professional feedback and coaching as part of performance development.
• Complete required tasks to maintain a smooth operation within the department.
