Job summary

Alexandria City Public Schools is seeking a School Nutrition Assistant III to support the food service team at Naomi L Brooks Elementary School. The role involves lead cashier duties, food preparation, serving meals, and maintaining daily records with the manager.

The position is 7.75 hours per day, 187 days per year, with a schedule between 5:30am and 2:30pm. ServSafe and NVCFM certifications are required, and prior food service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• ServSafe and NVCFM certifications are required.
• Experience in related food service roles is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead cashier, produce/baker, or prep/production employee as assigned by manager.
• Provide leadership to other employees in assigned area.
• Assist with management responsibilities in the absence of the manager/assistant manager.
• Train new employees alongside the manager.
• Arrange food and beverage items for serving to students and staff.
• Prepare a variety of lunchroom-related reports in compliance with regulations.
• Stock and inventory refrigerated and frozen groceries.
• Maintain sanitary conditions in utensils, equipment, and work areas.
• Collect payments for food items and reconcile transactions.
• Cook food from scratch to meet meal requirements.
• Document waste and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Inspect items to verify order quantities and specs.
