Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools is seeking a Food Service Assistant to support the school nutrition program at the local school level. The role follows the 179-day schedule and reports to the Principal and CNP Manager.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to operate kitchen equipment, and adherence to Nutrition Program guidelines. Candidates should be prepared to stand, lift up to 50 pounds, and work as part of a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
• Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment necessary for job responsibilities.
• Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow Nutrition Program guidelines and regulations.
• Ability to use technology as required to perform job responsibilities.
• Strength, stamina, agility, dexterity, and acuity to perform job responsibilities safely and effectively.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Such alternative qualifications to those listed as the Board may require.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing and serving food according to the written menu for the day and the supervisor’s/manager’s instructions.
• Performs food storage, inventory control, equipment cleaning, assembly, disassembly, and related serving and sanitation tasks as assigned.
• Performs duties courteously and professionally.
• Operates food service equipment following established procedures.
• Serves in job rotation or assists in any CNP activities as assigned.
