Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools is seeking a Child Nutrition Program Worker to support the district's local school CNP by assisting in meal preparation, service, and related sanitation tasks. The role requires adherence to menus, safety procedures, and school nutrition guidelines.

The position is a nine-month, 185-day assignment with opportunities to contribute to inventory control, equipment cleaning, and collaborative work with CNP staff, vendors, and school personnel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment.
• Follow verbal and written instructions; strong interpersonal skills.
• Follow Child Nutrition Program guidelines and regulations.
• Ability to use technology as required.
• Complete annual USDA continuing education training.
• Stamina and dexterity to perform duties safely and effectively.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Punctual and regular attendance.
• Such alternative qualifications as the Board may require.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparation and service of food according to the written menu and supervisor’s instruction.
• Performs food storage, inventory control, equipment cleaning, assembly/disassembly, and related sanitation tasks.
• Operates food service equipment in accordance with procedures.
• Serves in job rotation or assists in CNP activities including cashier, server, backup, dish machine operator, food prep, and cleanup.
• Maintains professional dress and hygiene suitable for food service work.
• Observes proper safety precautions in the kitchen and work areas.
• Cooperates with staff to maintain high standards in the child nutrition program.
• Follows instructions and communicates with CNP staff, vendors, school staff, students, parents, and community members.
