Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools is seeking a Child Nutrition Program Worker to assist in meal preparation and service, following the daily menu and supervisor instructions. Duties include food storage, inventory, sanitation, and operating kitchen equipment in a school setting.

Qualified applicants will follow USDA guidelines, work well in a team, and maintain safety standards. A high school diploma is preferred, with emphasis on attendance and reliability; lifting up to 50 pounds is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must meet Alabama Child Protection Act criteria.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as required.
• Follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively.
• Adhere to Child Nutrition Program guidelines and USDA requirements.
• Use technology as needed to perform duties.
• Complete annual continuing education training.
• Physical stamina for standing and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Punctual attendance and reliability.
• Alternate qualifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and service of meals per daily menu and supervisor instructions.
• Perform storage, inventory control, cleaning, and sanitation tasks.
• Operate food service equipment following procedures.
• Rotate roles within CNP activities as assigned ( cashier, server, etc.).
• Maintain professional dress and hygiene suitable for food service.
• Observe kitchen safety and cooperate with staff.
• Collaborate with school staff to uphold standards of the CNP.
• Follow instructions and communicate with others (staff, vendors, students, parents).
• Participate in trainings and continuing education for growth.
• Demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality as required.
• Report problems promptly and maintain records and reports.
