Job summary

Passaic Board of Education is seeking a School Nurse in Passaic, New Jersey. The successful candidate will hold a NJ School Nurse certificate or appropriate endorsement and a New Jersey RN license, with CPR/AED certification.

The role requires managing student health records, conducting health screenings, and coordinating care with medical staff and families. The position reports to building administration and is part of the Division of Student Advocacy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent as required by NJ statutes and regulations.
• Valid NJ School Nurse certificate with School Nurse endorsement or appropriate NJ endorsement.
• Current New Jersey RN license.
• CPR certification and AED certification.
• Training in airway management and nebulizer/inhaler use as required by NJ statutes and regulations.
• Knowledge of child growth, wellness education, community health and current health issues.
• Healthcare experience, preferably with children/adolescents.
• Demonstrated management, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent collaboration, organization and outreach skills.
• Criminal history background check and evidence of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status.

Responsibilities

• Establish and promote high standards for students and staff for health services.
• Work with Medical Inspector/Board Physician and medical personnel to carry out medical orders.
• Carry out written orders of the medical home and standing orders of the Medical Inspector/Board Physician.
• Conduct health screenings and monitor vital signs for students.
• Maintain confidentiality of up-to-date student health records.
• Annually review immunization records and advise on exemptions.
• Provide emergency care and coordinate with hospitals or clinics when needed.
• Meet NJ requirements for communicable disease control and health-related procedures.
• Direct and supervise health services personnel and staff as assigned.
