Job summary

Northwood Academy Charter School is seeking a dedicated School Nurse to provide healthcare services to students and promote preventive health practices. Responsibilities include immunization compliance, medication administration, and developing care plans.

The nurse will coordinate with CSN/doctor, consult with school staff, document health events, and conduct required screenings to support student well-being and safety.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited university.
• Valid RN license to practice nursing (PA).
• PA Certificate as a School Nurse.
• CPR/First Aid Healthcare Provider Certification.
• Minimum of 2 years’ professional nursing experience, preferably in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure immunizations are up to date and compliant with guidelines.
• Dispense prescribed medications and secure storage.
• Develop student care plans (e.g., 504 plans) after assessment.
• Coordinate with CSN and Doctor on medical issues.
• Consult with food service, PE teachers, coaches, and counselors.
• Document nurse visits, injuries and health assessments in SIS.
• Communicate with administration on relevant health matters.
• Distribute daily medications per doctors’ orders.
• Provide annual screenings: hearing, vision, BMI, scoliosis.
• Maintain monthly medical inventory and confidential files.
