Job summary

The Stepping Stones Group is seeking aRegistered Nurse (RN) for a contracted, school-based placement in New Brunswick, NJ for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time Building Nurse role supporting a local K-12 district with nursing services.

You'll provide day-to-day medical care, manage medications, and collaborate with families and school staff to support student health, safety, and success. Competitive W-2 compensation is offered with clinical support and professional growth

Qualifications

• Active RN license in New Jersey
• Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program
• Current BLS CPR/AED certification
• Knowledge of nurse delegation and state scope-of-practice
• Ability to work independently with clinical judgment
• Experience with pediatric populations; school-based nursing preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and manage everyday illnesses on campus
• Monitor students with chronic conditions and administer medications per orders
• Verify orders and document medication administration
• Lead as the on-campus medical emergency responder
• Train staff on emergency protocols and equipment
• Develop and update IHPs, IEPs, and 504 Plans related to medical conditions
• Collaborate with parents and school staff on medical needs
• Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, BMI, blood pressure)
• Delegate and supervise nursing tasks per state regulations

The Stepping Stones Group is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a contracted, school-based placement in New Brunswick, NJ for the2026-2027 school year!This is a full-time Building Nurse role supporting a local K-12 district with nursing services.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Active RN license valid in New Jersey
• Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program
• Current BLS CPR/AED certification
• Knowledge of nurse delegation practices and state scope-of-practice regulations
• Ability to work independently and exercise clinical judgment
• Required Experience:
  • Seizure management - competent with seizure action plans and rescue medications
  • Tube feedings
  • Pediatric diabetic care
  • Oxygen and airway management
  • Medication administration
  • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Experience working with a pediatric population
• Preferred:School-based nursing experience

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Provide first aid and manage everyday illnesses (headaches, stomachaches, injuries)
• Monitor students with chronic conditions (asthma, diabetes, seizures, allergies, mental health conditions) and implement routine and PRN medications and care per orders
• Verify medical orders, document medication administration, and safely administer routine and PRN medications
• Act as the lead responder to medical emergencies on campus
• Train staff on emergency protocols and equipment use
• Develop and update IHPs (Individualized Healthcare Plans), IEPs (Individualized Education Plans), and 504 Plans related to medical conditions; participate in meetings as needed
• Collaborate with parents and school staff regarding students with medical needs
• Conduct or assist with health screenings (vision, hearing, growth/BMI, blood pressure)
• Delegate and supervise nursing tasks in accordance with state regulations
