Job summary

The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT seeks a Registered Nurse to join the Health Services team, delivering direct student care, education, and health promotion. The RN evaluates and treats student health concerns and maintains accurate health records essential for a safe campus.

Responsibilities include routine and urgent care, medication administration with parental consent, referrals to counseling, and collaboration with staff to support a healthy learning environment.

Qualifications

• Valid CT RN license or eligibility to be licensed.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• High integrity and strong interpersonal skills.
• Effective communication abilities.
• Proficient record keeping and care plan management using computer software.
• Knowledge of health issues and adolescent nursing assessment.
• Competent computer skills for communication and records.
• Excellent judgment and confidentiality.
• Ability to prioritize diverse tasks in a stressful environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary health care and nursing intervention per protocol.
• Render routine and acute care per Nurse Practice Act.
• Administer medications with parental permission and doctor order.
• Perform routine and emergency first aid.
• Maintain accurate student health records and monitor symptoms.
• Assess health needs and treat students as presented.
• Refer to school resources including counseling as needed.
• Collect information for State reports.
• Communicate with parents, faculty with diplomacy and discretion.
• Follow PPE, hygiene, disinfection and medical waste protocols.
• Collaborate with Health Center staff on care plans.
• Remain available to report within 1 hour during on-call hours.
• Attend in-service sessions and staff meetings.
• Perform additional duties as needed.
