Job summary

The Hotchkiss School is seeking a per diem Registered Nurse to join the Health Services team. The role involves independent nursing judgment, health assessments, and education to students in a welcoming, inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities include administering care per standing orders, managing medications with proper orders, and maintaining precise health records. Strong communication with parents and staff is essential, with on-call availability as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid CT RN license or eligibility to obtain license.
• Current CPR and AED certification from a recognized provider.
• strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to maintain accurate health records and care plans.
• Knowledge of adolescent health issues and nursing assessment.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary health care and nursing interventions per orders and protocols.
• Administer medications with parental permission and doctor order, document administration.
• Maintain student health records with accurate monitoring and reporting.
• Perform routine and emergency first aid for illnesses and injuries.
• Refer students to school resources including counseling when needed.
• Communicate with parents, faculty, and administration professionally.
• Follow infection control protocols and PPE guidelines as required.
• Collaborate with Health Center staff to plan patient care and on-call duties.
