Job summary

Bay City School District is seeking a Food Service Worker to assist the General Cook in the preparation and serving of nutritious meals for students, during the 8:00am to 1:00pm shift, in a clean, safe kitchen. Responsibilities include following menus, preparing items, and helping with catering and banquets as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, ability to read and follow written instructions, and experience with large-scale cooking is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information to students, customers, co-workers, and other employees.

Responsibilities

• Assists the General Cook in the preparation and serving of food items for meals.
• Assists with daily cleaning of kitchen equipment to ensure sanitation.
• Prepares and serves food according to planned menus and recipes.
• Assists with care, storage, and use of leftovers.
• Orders and receives food and supplies for the department.
• Maintains production records and inventory for satellite kitchens.
