Job summary

Ouray School District R-1 is seeking a Food Service Assistant Cook to support meal preparation and service in the school kitchen. You will help prep breakfast and lunch items, set up the salad bar, wash dishes, sanitize surfaces, and assist with daily clean-up, while maintaining safety and food storage standards.

The role requires a High School diploma (or equivalent), 1-3 years in a professional kitchen, strong communication and organizational skills, and reliability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and training in food service preparation and health codes.
• 1–3 years of experience in a professional kitchen preferred.
• No certificates, licenses, or registrations required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare breakfast and pack breakfast bags for delivery to classrooms.
• Unpack breakfast bags and record returns for morning paperwork.
• Prepare and set up salad bar for lunch service; cut vegetables and fruit.
• Serve the hot side of lunch and ensure ovens and heat tables are shut off after service.
• Wash all dishes and sanitize counters, steam tables, and sinks.
• Sweep, mop, and maintain kitchen cleanliness; assist with end-of-day duties.
• Other duties as assigned.
