Job summary

Benson Unified School District is seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to support the Maintenance Department in caring for district facilities in Benson, Arizona. The role entails performing a range of repair and construction tasks with an emphasis on safety and code compliance.

Starting immediately, the position is a 12-month, full-time role at 8 hours per day with medical, dental, vision, life benefits, a 403(b) plan, sick and vacation days, and retirement participation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of five years of diversified maintenance experience.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license.
• Ability to push/pull or lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders and work in tight spaces.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work and operate equipment for facilities maintenance and repair.
• Perform preventative maintenance on plumbing systems (replacing fixtures, fixing water lines, unclogging toilets, snaking drains).
• Perform preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units (belts, motors, relays, thermostats, pumps, fuses, transformers, filters, fans).
• Replace electrical outlets and light fixtures; install time clocks and check photo cells on lights.
• Frame walls to specifications to accept windows/doors and bear weight; hang drywall and apply finishing compounds.
• Move equipment and furniture; assemble chairs, desks, tables, and fixtures.
• Mix and apply paints or coatings to buildings and equipment; respond to facility complaints.
• Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance and refer deficits to the Director of Maintenance.
