Job summary

Washington County Public Schools is seeking a Food Service Assistant at Boonsboro Middle School. The role runs 3 hours per day within a 10-month work year (10:45 am - 1:45 pm) under the Food & Nutrition Services department. Salary is on the ESP Scale ($17.18 - $31.07).

Reports to the Assistant Supervisor, with duties including food prep, dishwashing, serving, and maintaining safety standards. Preferred candidates may have food service experience and knowledge of equipment, plus ability to learn

Qualifications

• Ability to work cooperatively with others and follow directions.
• Serv-Safe certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Willingness to be assigned at any site within the base operation.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Ability to meet physical requirements: standing, lifting, bending.
• Effective communication with staff, students, and community.
• Experience with computer systems to perform work functions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and/or assist in preparing food as assigned.
• Complete clean-up and dishwashing duties as assigned.
• Report food supply needs and problems to the Site Supervisor.
• Serve food to students and adults as assigned using portion control standards as directed.
• Maintain clean work area.
• Operate kitchen equipment in a proper manner to assure safety.
• Assist with any phase of the kitchen operations.
• Operate computerized cash register system.
• Adhere to all health and safety policies.
• Adhere to regulations for students with special dietary needs.
• Attend mandatory training as required by program standards.
• Understand and support the philosophy and mission of the WCPS Food & Nutrition Services department.
• Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
