Job summary

Wright Middle Food Services within the Madison Metropolitan School District seeks a dedicated staff member for school lunch operations. Under general supervision, assist with preparation, packaging and distribution of meals, while promoting a positive lunchroom experience for students.

The role requires adherence to safety protocols, cash handling, and efficient service during the 10-month calendar with summers off. High school diploma and food safety basics preferred; evenings/weekends possible.

Qualifications

• Completion of online Food Safety and Sanitation Program before probation ends.
• Three months of cashiering, customer service, or related experience.
• Six months of food service experience.
• Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to cultural competence.
• Positive attitude and teamwork in a lunchroom environment.
• Punctual and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Follow USDA/DPI and MMSD rules and procedures.
• Maintain sanitation and safety standards in all steps.
• Collect cash and report meals accurately using a POS system.
• Distribute food in proper portions to students and staff.
• Clean tables, equipment, and food service area; maintain tidiness.
• Assist with meal preparation to ensure quality and safety.
