Job summary

Portage Township Schools is hiring a part-time school lunch worker for the Portage area. The role involves food preparation, inventory, and operating the point-of-sale system with students and staff.

You will maintain sanitation standards and participate in ongoing training to support a positive school lunch environment. Strong math, communication, and organizational skills are essential, along with a valid Food Handler Certification.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills and trustworthy demeanor.

• Knowledge of School Food Service policies and program requirements.
• Must complete Food Handler Certification Course and maintain sanitation certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, production, planning, ordering, inventory and record keeping.
• Operate POS system, handle lunch/ala carte sales, and compute daily/monthly reports.
• Interact positively with students, staff and parents.
• Perform kitchen duties including cleaning and sanitation.
• Attend training and follow safety procedures and proper chemical use.
• May assist with after-hours catering and cross-training as needed.
